Small Comforts

I got mad ill this weekend, but survived, thanks in no small part to these three liquids. I'm better now, yay!

Scented Candles

Especially in the winter in New York, rooms can get kind of dull and depressing. It's too cold to crack a window to get a nice air flow, it's too annoying to constantly buy fresh flowers, so my solution is scented candles. I love them, I always have a couple in my room so that I can have an option of scents. It instantly makes my room feel warmer and more homey. I got this candle from Diptyque over winter break, it is bomb-diggity. And knowing it comes from a classy West Village store makes me feel that much more fancy.

Wellies

Its been raining or snowing or slushing or some THING or the other for the past couple of days (weeks?) in NYC. That's why the best wardrobe investment I've made thus far this year has definitely been my silver Hunters. I love a good metallic accessory, it goes with everything and provides a nice bit of pizzazz even when you're feeling less attractive than Rosie O'Donnell in that made for TV Lifetime movie.

The Gube

Matthew Gray Gubler is perfect. He's tall, skinny, drinks tea, wears cardigans, knows the importance a good "thumbs up" sign, draws creepy things, has a sense of humour, loves Halloween, went to NYU(educated!), is friends with Wes Anderson, I could go on. The first time I saw the Gube was a promotional picture for Criminal Minds, (a show I have watched a handful times, and every single time for the pure benefit of seeing Gubler in motion) and in that moment I thought to myself "this guy... this is a good guy". I wish he was in more stuff, but selfishly I'm glad he's not, so that he can be my own little crush that I don't have to share with other creepy fans.

Extra Time in the Morning

I love waking up and being wide awake and seeing that I actually could go back to sleep for 40 minutes, if I wanted to! But then I decide to stay up and use my time more constructively by studying a bit more, making a gourmet oatmeal brekkie and packing a homemade lunch. It makes me feel very in control and ok, like God. She-God. Shmod?

Fresh Flowers

My dad sent me these for Valentine's Day. They are so pretty and smell so nice and really brighten up my room and ~spirit~. I should buy flowers more often but I'm lazy. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

Lauren Conrad

I have always been intrigued by/envious of girls who got to have perfect California high school lives because they remind me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so naturally I loved Laguna Beach and kind of enjoyed The Hills. Lauren Conrad always seemed pretty inoffensive and like a decent hard-working human being, so I have always rooted for her. But holy moly my respect has just reached a new high!!! Lauren Conrad is my new style icon. Look at that hair!! Those sunglasses! All that black! I want everything she's wearing and I'm never cutting my hair again!

A Freshly Made Bed

You gotta make your bed!! You gotta eat your fruit and veggies, drink your water, brush your teeth, and make your bed. The day simply does feel like it's started until my bed is made. I like it to be clean and crisp. I sent out my sheets to be washed and folded for me professionally, so now they smell all clean and cozy. The bad news is I already sleep 10 hours a night and regularly nap during the day. I really don't need to be enticed to sleep MORE.
